Yes, I know it’s an april fool hoax, but this is possibly one of the most detailed, amazing hoaxes I’ve seen. The fellows at IGN created a faux trailer for a Legend of Zelda movie. I must say, the trailer looks awesome, and I wish the movie were really in production, but ah well.
Few videogame properties hold the cachet of The Legend of Zelda. As a film project, it’s on the scale of Lord of the Rings. But no one has tackled a live-action adaptation of the storied franchise… until today. Production Company Rainfall Films has asked IGN to premiere the very first footage from their live-action Zelda film — a very literal adaptation of the magical epic — and, of course, we said, “Yes!”
My last experience with Zelda on the Wii was highly favourable, and left me with a wonderfully enjoyable experience. Pity that actual game-to-movie conversions are never this good!
Which game do you think would make an awesome movie? I must say that I’m looking forward to the Prince of Persia movie, due out next year!

I thought the fake trailer was really cool too. The person play Link didn’t really fit the character though… imagine how long that took them!
I think the previous poster was being polite…the guy who plays Link looks like a tool! Considering how much time and money they spent making this fake trailer (which looks really cool, btw) they could have gotten a better looking dude.
I’m looking forward to the Prince of Persia movie as well. I hope they retain the music from the first game though because that was all kinds of hot! The second game…not so much.
I thought it looked more like a mini series ala Wizard of Earthsea. Pretty good.
But the hat looked so cheesy! I know he wears it in the game but it’s a lot cuter on a cuddly little animated guy than on a fully grown guy. Only way they coulda gotten away with it would be to make link a pre-pubescent boy ala Peter Pan. That would still work coz of the chubby cheeks.
The trailer was really well done – very convincing, although the actor reminded me a bit of Michael Jackson. Didn’t know about the Prince of Persia movie coming out next year – looking forward to it now
There was a rumor running around the Intarwebs this morning that wossname from Lord of the Rings and Pirate of the Caribbean…Orlando Bloom! That’s the name-why the heck a name like Orlando anyhows??…was slated to play the Prince, but then that turned out to be untrue. What we DO know about the Prince movie is that it’s being filmed in Morocco, and they’re still casting for it, so no primary filming has begun yet. They’re about done storyboarding and Jordan Mechner (the creator of Prince of Persia, and the copyright holder of the franchise) said that the script won’t follow the game too closely (read: not at all), but will be awesome. We can only hope, Jordan, we can only hope!
