Ok, this Saturday in our swanky new car we headed off to watched this much talked about film WALL-E.
Firstly, I think the hype was a bit much, it certainly didn’t win over toy story for me, but that is not to say it wasn’t a good movie.
Visually it was a beautiful … the art of 3D animation and modelling was in full swing for this movie with breath taking realism on the objects and robots. But so you all know (this is my modelling experience kicking in) it is MUCH easier to create realistic scenes and objects than animals and people, so they did get off lightly due to he fact that they didn’t have to render hair and water and other such demanding features.
Storyline, well this was sweet and made me smile quite a few times throughout the movie. One area that impressed me a lot was the lack of speech. So clever to tell such a big story while soley relying on visuals and very little speech – so hats off for that, you did good.
I would recommend this as one to watch but not one I will buy … unless a DVD comes with some extras, then perhaps I can be swayed
I found it to be a bit on the quiet side – an unusual choice for a commercial animation. I enjoyed it, though, and found WALL-e and the scenery to be surprisingly photorealistic. So I don’t think they got off “lightly”. I recommend seeing it, but don’t expect it to be action packed.
