Incredibly careless of him, I guess, but let this be a lesson to all time travelers. Don’t leave your possessions lying around when visiting the past! So heed this tale of caution: a group of Chinese archaeologists are in a state of intense confusion after discovering a ring in the shape of a Swiss watch in a 400-year old tomb.
“We picked up the object, and found it was a ring. After removing
the covering soil and examining it further, we were shocked to see it
was a watch.”The time was stopped at 10:06am, and on the back was engraved the word “Swiss”, reports the People’s Daily.
Local experts say they are confused as they believe the tomb had been
undisturbed since it was created during the Ming dynasty 400 years ago.
Well, it was either the Doctor or Slartibartfast!
(Yes, I know that Ananova stories should be taken with a large rock of salt!)

This is indeed a mystery! Maybe the Lilliputians have learned time travel
Have they determined whether it’s an actual watch, I wonder. Or might it be a miniature replica? Maybe that could give them a lead…
I believe that it was a time traveller… excellent post it inspires the motivation to believe. As you get older it’s soemthing I think people loose, the wonder, the possibility, hold onto it… don’t be a sceptic.
So there’s my watch
400 years i have been looking for that!
Really though that watch was made years ago although instead of having a working watch people would have these which are fake ones some rulers would wear watches with intricate designs.
This one was most likely a present as some people would give each other these rings the lines point to the time on the side however it is not the hours of the day but the days in a year and which month!
Let me explain:
The long hand is the day the short hand is the month.
So if the small hand is on ten and the long hand is on 6 it would be 10:06 nowadays but it would have been October 6th if it was representing date.
End explanation.
Replying to joseph!
I like the time travel concept however it is my opinion that if time travel was invented then we would already know about it by having someone from the future mess in the past would alter history or they would be recognized like the doctor was in the Tv episode Rose!
The truth is… And I know this sounds weird but late in the 80′s I was back packing in this area and came accrossed this tomb. My girlfriend and I got busy and after words she left her ring behind. We thought we would never see it again. Does any of you have a phone number for the archeologist who has the ring?
@Scorpio
Ah time travel and the large quanity of ideas regarding what will happen, if it’s happened etc etc. I remember in the mid 80s and the early 90s time travel seemed to be the new sci-fi craze. It’s still around but the tv and movie industry really went extreme with it. I remember watching so many bad and good movies that made sense and others that were just all wrong!!!
The key things I remembered were;
1. if you meet yourself in any other time the universe would collapse
2. if you did time travel you would create a parallel time thus not affecting time now
3. time is relative – it’s always now
4. as time is altered the only person that will be aware is the traveller as you are not affected by the changes
5. as time is altered, no one knows (could be changing all the time)
6. the butterfly effect
Anyone remember other ones?
@Evan – no
besides, why was there a need to remove the ring
(rhethorical question)
