Today’s Insanity: Live action Elite Beat Agents

Elite Beat Agents is perhaps one of the best games to ever hit the Nintendo DS system, and if you don’t know yet, the game features three “agents” who act as a sort of urban metrosexual cheerleading squad. Hey, I never said the premise made much sense. In any case, stripped down, the game is a rhythm action game which has you tapping numbers on the touchscreen in time to the rhythm of the music, all this set to a story about overcoming strange odds (one of the stages, for example, is about a weather lady who promises a picnic with her son, and so falsely predicts sunny weather, and her ensuing attempts to chase the clouds away, all put to the music of “September” by Earth, Wind and Fire).

If you STILL can’t get a grip on what I’m on about, watch this to get a better idea.

So why all this background info about a (brilliant) game you’ve probably never played? Because this one is good; the guys at Mega64 decided to hold a live-action version of Elite Beat Agents to see how the people around them would react. And it’s well funny. Check it out.

Microsoft WFT

Microsoft launched an attack on Microsoft in my laptop! No, seriously! Check the WTF!

I *love* the serious problem! What is a “serious problem” in Microsoft speak? Misfired packets? Communication breakdown? Computer hibernating? Trying to log in?

Does it matter that I had no prior knowledge of this “add-in” or that this was the first time the message appeared?

I think Outlook won the serious problem … but, then again, maybe not.

Subliminal nudity in cartoons

Really! No, way! There is no way that animators would include subliminal sexual references – or to be more precise, drawing genitalia – in cartoons!

Here’s Bugs Bunny’s item as he comes out of the shower:

Apparently, Betty Boop was quite the indpendent woman who had confidence in her sexuality:

And a quick look at other youtube videos shows that Disney is still propagating this! For example, an erection in the Little Mermaid? And I don’t think this only happens in animated movies. What about games?

So, what is the thinking behind this? Is it for shock? Because the animators can? For fun? Human nature? A way to mark the cartoon as your work, similar to chip grafitti? Or a case of, if you want to see something sexual in an image, you will?
