Dark Roasted Blend has an article on one of the most phallic animals I’ve ever seen. The Geoduck (pronounced “gooey-duck”), or elephant trunk clam, is a species of huge, saltwater clam that lives up to around 160 years. The thing can grow to about two meters in length. As seems to be about typical, this animal is eaten as a delicacy in Asia (and elsewhere now, as it gains popularity as cuisine), and there are several geoduck farms in existence around the world. In fact, geoduck farms are one of the most regulated aqua farms in the US economy!
Geoducks burrow into the sand and tend to stay in that one spot all their lives. The geoduck is food to more than just humans; they are attacked by starfish, sea otters, and dogfish for food. These animals seem to be the few that are able to dislodge geoducks from their hole in the ground.
Someone, it seems, has a strange sense of humor when it comes to Creation.
