Now, this isn’t really a dig at Dell. Infact it’s quite a compliment. We decided to finally get a new computer (to replace the one I butchered in an attempt to “improve” it).
The www.dell.ie site was very good and even had a readily available chat room where you could ask a tech head questions while ordering and customizing your PC. I actually thought this feature was very handy and customer friendly, but let’s not jump to far ahead as we have one last and most important test – will we actually get the PC delivered???
But there was one part of the process that I found very strange, and that was a question regarding my purpose to by it. Now it had a number of choices, standard ones like home use, or for office use, but there was one of the six that stood out. That’s right, you could specify that you were going to use your DELL PC for missile guidance systems – I kid you not!!! So, for this reason I have some questions;
- Who would choose that?
- What would happen if you did choose that?
- Is this a common need?
- Is there a special discount?
So, does anyone else think that this is strange, or am I just behind in the times?
p.s. I’ll let you know if the DELL process was successful in a weeks time 🙂
