cold feet

I’m sure there are loads of couples who have this particular problem but I have to say I quite like the idea of calling in the authorities to decide on the best solution for the issue.

I wonder if the Rondebosch SAPS will be as accommodating when I call in winter! 😛

Well, sorta…

A six-year-old boy from Virginia, US, drove his parents Ford Taurus for 10km in major traffic in an attempt to get to school on time. He told police he’d learned to drive by playing video games.

The boy took the keys to the car after missing the school bus. The incident happened at 0740 on Monday, while the boy’s mother was still asleep.

He [was] weaving through traffic and overtaking slower cars, before losing control and going off the road.

His road trip came to an end only after he ran off the road several times before hitting an embankment and utility pole. He was not, police said, wearing a seat belt.

He was treated for minor injuries at a hospital before police took him to school.

The parents have been charged with neglect and child endangerment. The boy and his four-year-old brother are now in protective custody.

Don’t say video games never taught anyone anything…

Ok, I will be the first to admit that I was not bothered with the trailers, but when my mrs told me that the story had more to it, I became interested.

The movie is a bit long… not by much, but there were a few moments of feeling – oh come on, hurry up! But all round it’s a very interesting story. Samuel L Jackson plays a depressed cop, father of a single parent family, with a bitter hate towards interracial relationships. When a newly married couple move in next door, his sights are set on making it clear that a black person and a white person are never meant to be together – all the while using his police status to aid in the intimidation.

There are many moments throughout movie that just enrage and shock you, but the story is gripping and compelling to watch. And to answer the most important question, “is the film worth it?” – Yes, the ending is worth it! If you like redemption 😛

But be warned – it is a heavy subject and story, so go in feeling happy 😀

A woman walking a trail in the woods near Harwich, Massachusetts came across a Baldwin Acrosonic piano, model number 987, intact and apparently in tune. Near the mystery piano was a bench, positioned as though someone was about to play. Police are investigating to find the owner of the piano.

I sense a gothic ghost story in this somewhere.
