Spot the likeness….this is a pic of me at my brother’s fancy dress up birthday party back in 2007. I don’t have a better pic lying around, unfortunately. For comparison, below, is the poster of the new Prince of Persia movie. Whaddayathink? Did I predict the new movie?

Anyhow…I’m looking forward to seeing this movie when it hits next year! And unlike good ol Jake, I at least have a little bit of Persian blood in me!

I have two things to say about the new pics of Jake Gyllenhaal as the Prince. One: seems that, true to the game, the Prince seems to have a tendancy to lose clothing, and Two: Is that a codpiece?? I suppose this is a more a question for the ladies than the guys: yea or nea?

Joystiq game blog has an update on the Prince of Persia movie that we’re all dreading looking forward to. Specifically, the update is a picture of Ben Kingsley, whose last memorable role was as Gandhi (in fact, Ben, born Krishna Bhanji, has Indian blood in him, so it’s surprise that he’s not hit Bollywood yet). As is evident by the Ming-the-merciless look, Ben plays the antagonist (“bad guy” for you plebs) in the movie. Ol’ Ben’s been in a number of really terrible movies lately (at least one of which was a Uwe Boll movie, which should say a lot about the terribleness), so here’s to hoping that Ben’s presence in the Prince movie isn’t a curse.

So what’s UP with that belt?

It’s the classic “want it to succeed but afraid of being so disappointed” feeling again. I was excited when they announced a movie based on the Prince of Persia game franchise (my favorite is still Sands of Time–it’s so much better than what came after). I was disappointed at hearing that Jake Gyllenhaal was cast as the Prince, but there’s nada I can do about that. Well, the first pics of Gyllenhaal as the Prince has surfaced, and I can’t say I’m too happy, but…eh, it’s not my decision. I just hope the movie doesn’t suck, like so many other game-to-movie adapatations.
